The development of tourism in Uzbekistan

In 2013 about 2 million foreigners visited Uzbekistan, more than 600,000 of whom are classical tourists. Compared with 2012 the number of guests visiting the country has increased by more than 16%, which is very high. Along with traditional tourism in the country is developing rapidly many other types of tourism, among which it is worth to note ecotourism, geotourism, cultural and medical, as well as hiking, fishing, rafting and special types of tours for drivers, motorcyclists and cyclists.
There are over 4 thousand monuments of architecture and art of different epochs and civilizations in Uzbekistan. Many of them are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among them there are also 4 cities - Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Shakhrisabz.
Last year the country start to put into life a program of tourism development in Khorezm, Surkhandarya, Tashkent and Kashkadarya regions with the projects which are worth more than $ 260 million.
